In January, our Interiors General Manager and Creative Director did the annual trip to Heimtextil in Frankfurt, Germany. This trip is essential in setting up trends for the coming year and Hemtextil 2015 did not disappoint.  After scouring the fair halls, our team highlighted the four most strongly emerging trends, and we have created mood boards to express these trends.  These boards were presented to the rest of our team at the recent Charles Parsons Interiors sales conference, together with designs which were selected that tie back into these stories.

These Heimtextil trends will be inspiring a number of new ranges in the coming months and the trip was a success, not only in sourcing new inspiration but confirming that Charles Parsons is, as always, leading the market in interior fashion and design.

The Theme Park

This year marked a turning point for the acclaimed Heimtextil exhibition, unveiling their new display concept - the Theme Park.  Immersing buyers in sensory and emotive displays, this interactive experience brought more to the table than ever before by looking at movement within designs.

Tying in perfectly with this hands-on display is the theme of the 2015 Heimtextil show: 'Experience', encompassed in four thematic areas: Sensory, Mixology, Discovery and Memory.

Experience - Sensory

As digital sterility pervades our lives there is bound to be a reaction, so interior designers are creating new environments that appeal to very human stimuli to generate more sensorially satisfying, immersive experiences.  There is a fascination with synesthesia, in which the stimulation of one sense leads to a reaction in another.

Experience - Mixology

The fabrics here are as diverse as the world’s cultures: Native American tribal prints, tie-dyes, weaves of ropes, feathers to form a checkered pattern, flower petals pressed on a sheer, cork spliced with textiles, and colors embracing the entire spectrum.  Mixology also has a special focus on reuse, upcycling and recycling; it is progressive and eco-sensitive.

Experience - Discovery

Metallic splattered velvets, wallpaper that looks like moon rock, zigzag jacquards, sequined decorative pillows, prints of pebbles, crackle effects, marbling, volcanic and materials that look as if they have been worn by time - in Discovery, we feel the need to protect, and as a reflex, be protected from the consequences of our improvidence.

Experience - Memory

Fed up with consumerism and left feeling empty by social media relationships that don’t fulfill, consumers now wish to prioritise personal fulfillment and wellbeing.  The foliage and flowers of botanical art decorate fabrics and wallpapers, sheers and lace, and intermingle with classic plaids and stripes; they are materials for which we have an emotional connection.
